In April 2011 Remedease’s founder and expert organizer, Fran Piekarski, was on TLC’s hit series Hoarding: Buried Alive.

In this emotional episode, Fran helps a woman named Maggie who is an online selling addict. She has massive collections of belongings, some piled so high that visitors have to walk through narrow pathways to get to certain parts of her house.

During the episode Maggie’s son comes to visit for the first time in five years and is horrified by the mess he encounters.  Maggie can’t see how her addiction is hurting her relationships with her children.  Her daughters will not bring their children to visit their grandmother.  Maggie viewed the objects she was hoarding as potential income for her children, but they wanted her time and attention.

Fran works with her to help her see herself, let go of her belongings and create a safer home for her family.
